What’s the Mission?
Crafting an institutional Mission/Vision/Values statement is an iterative process. It takes time. Following is where we are right now; please let us know what you think by posting a comment!
Vision
The intention of OperaBaltimore is to bring together a dedicated company of creative artists to produce, with fiscal responsibility, opera of the highest artistic caliber with an emphasis on American artists and a dedication to both classic and contemporary operatic repertoire.
Mission
- To be part of the cultural fabric of Baltimore with programming that is innovative and entertaining.
- To operate with sound fiscal management; to create and maintain financial sustainability.
- To feature American artists in all aspects of performance, administration and production.
- To present programming that is balanced and challenging.
- To maintain rigorous budget management and best business practices.
- To establish and maintain a vigorous development program that cultivates and stewards annual fund and endowment.
- To implement education/outreach programs throughout Maryland that educate and build audiences throughout Maryland.
- To provide continuing training programs for regional artists.
- To create a culture of participation within the institution and the community where stimulating ideas can be explored, developed and shared.
- To develop unique collaboration opportunities with other arts organizations.
Values
- Artistic integrity and excellence, both musical and theatrical, in all work that is presented.
- Balanced programming with a level of artistic risk that both entertains and challenges artists and audiences.
- Operate efficiently and collaboratively, always motivating and empowering the company.
- Opera produced by a community of artists, technicians, craftsmen and administrators in which each member of the community is dependent on the others. Consideration for colleagues is essential, including the practice of simple courtesy and civility.
An exciting endeavor. I am happy to hear he news.
I think this is a wonderful gathering of the right minds to do the right thing for the survival of Opera here at home. I hope more support develops for this new or different approach in American Opera Production.
Congratulations!!!!!!!
