Our venue is located in the picturesque Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore City. There are several options for parking nearby:
Street Parking - 2-hour and metered street parking surround the Club, please be very careful when reading appropriate signage. Street parking is usually free on Sunday.
Several inexpensive parking garages are within a 5-minute walk. Check out this site for up to date prices and hours: http://baltimore.bestparking.com. Many patrons have successfully used the indoor parking garage adjacent to the Baltimore Basilica: LAZ Parking at 15 W. Franklin St., Baltimore MD, 21201. Usually this costs just $6 for Friday evening or Sunday afternoon; however, we do not officially endorse any garage. Please be sure that the garage of your choice does not close before the end of the performance.

Absolutely! You don’t need to be an opera expert to have a great time at Opera Baltimore. Our productions are full of powerful storytelling, vibrant music, and compelling performances. If you’d like a little context before the show, check out our Opera Insights zoom lectures/pre-performance talks (available at select events) or explore our website and social media for behind-the-scenes content, artist features, and more.
-
Our performances/events typically run 2 to 3 hours, including at least one intermission. Check your specific event listing for details.
-
It’s traditional to applaud at the end of an aria, act, or full scene, rather than after every musical phrase. If you're unsure, just follow the crowd—or watch the conductor. And if you clap at the "wrong" time? Don’t sweat it! We love enthusiasm.
-
Yes! All of our productions include English supertitles projected above the stage (unless otherwise noted), even when the opera is sung in English. So you’ll never miss a moment of the story, regardless of the language being sung.
-
All concert opera performances will take place at the Engineers Club in Mount Vernon. Our fully staged production will be performed with orchestra at Stephens Hall at Towson University. The Engineers Club is located at 11 West Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore, MD 21201.
Stephens Hall Theatre is a large historic theatre on the campus of Towson University, located on the 7900 block of York Rd, Towson, MD 21252.

We recommend arriving at least 20–30 minutes before curtain to allow time for parking, getting settled, and perhaps meeting a new friend at the opera. Some performances include pre-opera talks which begin an hour before the performance, so check your event listing to see if you’ll want to come early for those.
-
Opera is a great excuse to dress up—but there’s no formal dress code at Opera Baltimore. Whether you’re rocking your favorite statement piece, a classic suit or dress, or something more laid-back and cozy, we want you to feel like the best version of yourself.
Many patrons enjoy making it a special night out and choose "dress to impress" outfits—think cocktail attire, bold accessories, or that outfit you’ve been waiting for the right occasion to wear. Others prefer a more relaxed business casual look, especially for matinees. You’ll see a little bit of everything in the audience, and it’s all welcome.
Our goal is to make you feel confident, comfortable, and part of the experience. So whether you arrive in sequins or sneakers (or both), we’re just glad you’re joining us.
-
Late seating is extremely limited and not guaranteed. For most performances, we offer one designated late seating opportunity during the first act, and it is strictly at the discretion of the front of house staff. If you miss that window, you may need to wait until intermission to be seated—or, in some cases, may not be seated at all.
We strongly encourage all patrons to arrive at least 30 minutes before curtain to allow time for parking, ticket pickup, and finding your seat. Many of our venues are in busy areas or near other events, so please plan ahead and allow extra travel time. We don’t want you to miss a moment!
-
Photography, video, and audio recording are not permitted during performances out of respect for the artists and your fellow audience members. But please feel free to snap a selfie in the lobby or at our step-and-repeat banner before the show or during intermission—and tag us @OperaBaltimore!
-
Opera Baltimore welcomes children over the age of 6 to our fully-staged and concert opera productions who are able to sit quietly through a performance. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Children and adults who disrupt the performance will be asked to leave at the discretion of the House Manager.
-
For safety and accessibility reasons, strollers are not permitted inside our venues unless specified in the event information. Some events, like our Children's Opera, may welcome strollers, but for our fully-staged and concert opera productions, we encourage families to plan accordingly. Thank you for helping us create a safe and comfortable environment for all guests.
-
