Macbeth - Friday
Music by Giuseppe Verdi
Libretto by Francesco Maria Piave with additions by Andrea Maffei
A prophecy. A power grab. A couple who cannot stop once they start.
Macbeth is what happens when ambition stops being a private thought and becomes a plan. Macbeth hears a prediction that he could be king. He tells his wife. She hears it and goes all in.
Together, they push past the line they swore they would never cross, and then they keep crossing new ones because backing down would mean admitting what they have done.
This is not “history” in a dusty way. It is a pressure-cooker story about fear, image, and the way power makes people paranoid. The supernatural is everywhere, like a bad idea you cannot shake.
Verdi’s score hits hard and moves fast. You will feel the momentum, the dread, and the unraveling.
If you have ever watched someone chase status until it hollowed them out, you already understand Macbeth.
